Explain production function. Describe the comparison principle and also list out the limitation of law.

A production function represents the relationship between inputs and outputs in the production process of goods or services. It shows how much output can be produced with a given set of inputs, such as labor, capital, and technology. Typically represented as Q = f(K, L), where Q is the output, K is the quantity of capital, and L is the quantity of labor.

The comparison principle in economics refers to the idea that individuals and firms make decisions by comparing the benefits and costs of different options. It suggests that rational decision-makers will choose the option that maximizes their utility or profit.

Limitations of the law of diminishing returns include:

1. Assumes ceteris paribus: The law assumes that all other factors remain constant, which may not always hold true in real-world scenarios.

2. Short-term focus: It primarily applies in the short run and may not hold over the long term as firms can adapt and change their production methods.

3. Homogeneous inputs: It assumes that all inputs are homogeneous, which might not be the case in reality where inputs can vary in quality and effectiveness.

4. Technological advancements: The law may not hold in industries where technological advancements continuously improve productivity without encountering diminishing returns.

5. Fixed resources: It assumes that resources are fixed and cannot be changed, whereas in reality, firms can invest in increasing their inputs or finding substitutes.
